I think Andertons do ship to the US, Rob. Not sure how much that would cost though.

they must focus group which colors will sell best, and for whatever reason, they keep picking bl00z lawyers who only like black, white, and burst to represent the US.

so for the price of both of those together imported from Indonesia, to the island, imported to here, is the same price as this
plus whatever it costs me to get that hideous pickguard off it. so say like 40 bucks.

Over here that vintera road worn telecaster deluxe is about £1000
So much more than the two squiers £379 x 2 = £758

It's possible but the reverse happened over here - they started out as FSRs priced around £1150 and recently dropped to £974 (blue) and £999 (white), I presume as the stocks got low...
