I have been using a compressor on the m9 along with eq and I think I really like the sound. evens everything out and helps tracking on some effects after it.
I've never liked surprises so maybe Dynamics are just not for me ?

I got a compressor as a gift years ago, and I tried to make use of it for a while. I got nowhere and ended up concluding that it was far cheaper to just have a far shitter amp.

Do you still use a compressor setting on the m9 and this pedal together?

I find it’s easier just to never have a clean signal.

I tend to use them (emulated) in amplitube, it's one of those things where it's perhaps a boring purchase but if you can try it you may like what you find and it's worth getting.

What, the Matamp?!
Ha. I'd played with bad solid state amps, then a good solid state amp (Marshall AVT) then a Valve Junior, then the Matamp. So there had been a steady progression towards more dynamic amps. Then I got a compressor and couldn't work out why someone would want one.

Ok, so it's not that the m9 couldn't handle the task, it's just you want to use the m9 for other things?

Yeah. Sounds great to my ears on the m9 the eq going into the comp. But only leaves me one pedal choice on the m9 after. So hopefully this and the new EQ I got sounds as good.

I have an Ed in front of my M9, though it's not used a lot.

I had one of those years ago...but used it as some sort of fucked up distortion as I had no idea what compression was.

I got a Keeley Compressor Mini recently as I've started playing more percussive rhythm guitar and felt that I needed a bit of compression just to tighten everything up. I now leave it on all the time, set fairly low and it has a fair bit of clean signal blended in to make it sound natural.

I went to a guitar shop a couple of days ago and picked up a J Mascis Telecaster. While I was trying it out plugged straight into a Blackstar combo thing I realised how much I now lean on the compressor without even realising it!

Beware the compressor!

I am so unconfident in my own ears I am doubting myself that it sounds better.

The dyna comp has come and it is way more squishy than what I was using on the m9 so I have to have it turned right down. Expect a sound sample asking does this sound like dog shit or not!

Dynacomps are an old design, with no clean blend, so they're notoriously squishy and only really good for country chicken pickin (or so I'm lead to believe!)
