Hi all, similar thread to my SG one; what floats your baritone boat, Shortscale?? I want to buy more, need inspiration!

I’ve been really getting into my Dano 66BT, recently restrung with daddario medium baritone strings and tuned down to A instead of Bb, has taken over most of my playing time! (Pic attached)

Show me your baritones and GAS models!!

This. Tho Hagstrom do a baritone Viking that I’d love to try (I think it’s someone’s signature model, Paramore guy maybe).

I'm tempted to try a baritone at some point. I tune pretty low in Beige Palace and I've always used standard scale guitars up until now, but I'm starting to notice problems with tuning stability. Not sure if my ears have gotten more finely tuned, or if my playing has gotten more aggressive or what.

Does anyone have any thoughts/perspective on whether a baritone makes sense when tuning down to C?

Standard baritone tuning is B isn’t it? Using one for a C tuning would make sense.

No cuch thing as a standard baritone tuning, really. Lots of people play C-C (think Aen always did this on a standard scale with thick strings, FWIW - buy a 7 string set and ditch the high string). I like A-A, as it's about the lowest you can go and still use full chords without them flubbing out.

Part of the joy of baritone for me is the long scale lemgth - it plays and sounds different, really piano-y. And you can feel the whole guitar shake.

I've got a Jerry Jones Longhorn baritone (it's actually a six string bass, but I string it like a baritone) because fuck Dano.

That's more of a 'string gauge' thing, based on my own experiences. As long as you can still intonate it properly, it should work.

I keep seeing/hearing people play big ol' singlecoily baritones and it makes me go a lil' weak at the knees. One day; the HH Strat tuned to C will have to make do for now, maybe I'll finally get around to sorting the coilsplits on it...

In the wise words of Steve Cropper "my favorite guitar is the one I have".

Bit disappointed that on a forum dedicated to shortscales, nobody has answered "stratocaster" here.

Nice picks.

I want to play these guys some time this year so will need to find an Eastwood dealer. There's so many intriguing Eastwood models now, lots of interesting Baritones - these ones have stood out to me for a while. There was another cool black model somewhere I wanted to noodle on also will find a massive photo of that in a sec too.

Baritones are for the guitarists who are in all fairness are none other than deeply closeted bass players, yuck

I thought so too, but a month and a half later, you're the only person who picked up on it.

I also thought the internet gold that was my Tommy Lee/custard image would get more traction too.

Pearls among swine.
