"1960"

EDIT: Oh, is this actually from 1960? I'd assumed it was some weird reissue at some point and thought it was therefore funny that it would be made from perspex.

Source, rob?

I like the idea that someone might make a 22.5" scale, 1.5-inch-nut toothpick neck guitar with a 15lb body

It’s been in a lot of those history of Fender books and posted around forums like this for like 20 years. I remember people wondering wtf was up with it on JS and the early years of SS.

The weird body shape around the forearm area was probably to cut the weight down a bit.

I probably posted the same thing on a thread like this 15 years ago and have completely forgotten.

Damn! That 2.5lbs heavier than my avri jag which definitely feels heavy when it's strapped in.

Interesting. I know there was some plexiglass Musicmaster Bass from the early 70s and some strat from roughly the same period. The strat actually had a transparent neck, unlike the others. Oh, and that weird Beach Boys transparent guitar (wooden neck though).

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts
