1960s Gibson Documentary

Post by NickD »

I found this on YouTube. A nice little snippet of history - and shows how much hand work went into making a guitar.

I was surprised there was so many glamorous ladies making guitars. Not a mask in sight during the painting and sanding. They probably all died from guitar lung.

I got an email from Gibson promoting it. Didn't get around to watching earlier.

Come on man, Hollywood guys came to film them. Once in a life time opportunity back then and those fine Michigan ladies, who could be putting trucks together instead of making guitars, made a day out of it. For many of them that was probably a story to tell in their families for decades to come

Wasn't Bob De Niro chopping tonewoods around there at that exact time?
