They do accept offers.

eBay sold listings says it's a ~$600 guitar. I'd bet they'd take $650 for it. Do you think they're going to sell it for the $200 it would have cost new and let someone else make $400 on it?

Guitar market is inflated af. I think the surge of new guitar players that appeared during the pandemic, coupled with the desire of the old to buy more gear is the reason. Other reasons are more youtube channels that educate people on "what is cool and what is super, super cool/best kept secret", and also prices on new guitars like top of the line Squiers went from $250-350 ten years ago to $350-450.

Still selling a 12 year old Squier CV Duo Sonic for $800 when there are new Offset series Fender Duo Sonics going for less is dumb to me. Old, used VM Squiers are going for as much as new CV ones and even more, I see Gibsons from 5-10 years ago are priced almost like new respective models. I doubt that that many people are actually buying guitars for those prices, but who knows

The disparity between the prices for the same piece of gear is nuts too. Two shops near me are selling late 70s Gibson Marauders in very similar condition. One is £1300 the other about £1800.

So stupid. I've seen this happening ever since there was a pic of Slash with one of these.
There's a guy here selling only the Hello Kitty Strat CARTON BOX for €250

Please God send us that meteor, soon...

To be fair there is a big difference between listed prices and what things actually sell for, as Nick says above.

When I bought my Rickenbacker 4003 I actually wanted a Pawn Shop Mustang bass (white with the blue comp stripe). The Mustang was $799 but I had always wanted a Rick bass, so when one popped up used for only a few hundred more than I’d saved for the Mustang I decided to make it happen.

I sold the Rick years later for exactly what I paid for it on marketplace, but I was thinking about the Mustang bass again the other day.

There’s ONE on the whole internet right now. No sold, unsold completed listings or anything. It’s $1,800.

Perhaps Fender steals them and then pawns them.

or

They chuckle and say, “Ha, ha, you’ve been pawned!” when someone buys one.
