Strat revival

Post by NickS »

Just for a laugh I took my '73 Strat to practice last night. To my surprise the bassist was really quite excited, saying "that's the real Strat sound". I must admit, it sounded really good, with or without a bit of Line 6 M9 crunch into the JTM60. I've been using the MP Marauder for so long I'd forgotten how usable the Strat is, and how different in tone to the Marauder. I retired it from gigging because I didn't want to insure it for use outside the house. The other guitarist commented that it was older than him and that he wouldn't buy a Fender because they're too expensive. This from the man who has a Nord stage piano.

There's something about strats that every time I play one I'm amazed at how stratty it sounds.
