You guys are sleeping on these little 50w tube amps from vox. I just fucked around and recovered my dad's old 1x12s with baby blankets and plugged this fucking thing into it and it's the loudest thing in my basement.

They seem to sound great but I've heard they can be unreliable, can just go dead without any warning.

That would be my concern too. I'm also a bit skeptical about the nutube thing.

I've heard they sound great, though.

Now I don't know where I got it from. Either someone I know bought one and it was a dud or when they were released a website like Thoman had quite a few reviews where the thing kept dying on the purchasers. Now a quick search on google doesn't show any complaints about their reliability. Maybe Vox did a revision of the initial technology and fixed it. All in all they sound like a lot of fun for $250-300.

I've had mine for about a year. Play it cranked AF regularly. No issues at all. It rules

Sounds good. I liked that one with the Jag drone especially, and also the one where you were drumming.

I know you have the Clean model, do you ever use that built-in attenuator switch that gives you distortion?

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts

Just bought a second hand one, the ac version. Mainly to use at home, but tried it at practice through a 8ohm cab and it sounds great. Close enough to my proper vox ac30 for gigs. Just about loud enough but not really. So fancy getting a 4ohm cab to get the maximum 50 watts. Should be fine for gigs and saves lugging the ac30 around.
