Matamp Series 2000

Post by Bacchus »

It looks like Matamp are bringing back their original, Peter Green amp, the Series 2000. They've never had these as part of their lineup, which is astonishing. Apparently they're going to start making dedicated reverb units too, incase you find your Mooer 'verb to be too convenient and with too many options.

They've stopped making the 1224 also. Despite being brilliant, I suspect that they didn't sell as well as their other amps. People typically look to Matamp for biiiiig Doom amps and therefore (mistakenly) view anything with versatility as having inherent compromises.

Despite having absolutely no need at all for a big amp, I would love that.

A Matamp pedant writes: actually, they have reissued them before (with the reverb unit) around 2007ish. When I had my Minimat made, I had it made in a Series 2000-style.

I have no need for one but I really want one. My visit to the Matamp factory was very Willy Wonka.

A pedant replies: Yes. That's why I said they were never part of their lineup, which would be the main amps they offer.

Yeah, 60 units for their 60th anniversary.

My matamp is done up in green, which Matamp weren’t doing at the time. So I had to get the tolex from Electric, then send it to Huddersfield. Awkward. Haha

I literally have no idea how they sound but want one instantly because of how fucking cool that looks. Probably won't match my budget of exactly no money :(
