Actually to tell the truth, the problem was not drillings a pilot hole. I don't think there was one in the first place. It was a while ago I fitted the new tuners and I can't really remember.

I bought the Dunlop this afternoon and they have been fitted. I might try the Schallers out on one of my other guitars and compare them.

Those are the Gotohs on my Tele copy that is slowly getting upgraded. It's getting a new bridge, pickups and a nut properly cut for left handed use next.

The guitar is acoustically great. It has a nice bright, airy tone. It's just a pity the rest of the hardware is pretty poor.

Or you could just put some rubber washers on there and be done with it.

I've got those on my Tele, had em on my Jag-stang and Jaguar when I owned em- they're great, never had a problem in like 6-7 years of using em.

Yeah those are exactly what I have. Seem to be great, I had a minor thought about them effecting balance some how, but I was glad to find it was just a silly one.
