Humbucker recommendations

Post by theshadowofseattle »

I need a non-chrome covered bridge humbucker with coil-splitability for my Vista Musicmaster I just bought off blackmarker.

1. It needs to sond kool.
2. NOT FUCKING SEYMOUR DUNCAN.
3. GFS is a maybe.
4. I don't need stupid amount of output. I'd much rather it sound good than be a loud crappy mid-range mess.

I think you should get a Duncan.

Invader. Do graphite nut.

Seriously. What sound are you after. GFS like you mentioned are nice. I've always wanted to try out one of those Filtertron thingies too.

Get a DiMarzio Super Distortion and marry it if you like them so much.

You can't consummate a marriage to a guitar pickup. Well, Justin could find a way.

I'd rather pay more for something I know will sound good. And GFS humbuckers don't sound like what I want at all.

It really depends on what kind of sound you want. I don't know anything about GFS's humbuckers... all's I know is that the fatboy tele pups kick ass!

Rob says the stock pickup in his squier MM is awesome, I'd suggest trying that out before you decide to just go ahead and replace it.

Edit: all i did was insert a space between the sentences... it looked like one of Robert original's early posts!

I was looking at Duallyz, bob. Anyone tried them? I know Sickened had, but I don't trust his opinion. I've only heard the Gold-Gold, and didn't get to hear it clean.

Don't get a red dually, they have a really strange and unique sound. I guess that's what happens when you have a passive pickup with over 30.5k output.

I'm not really thrilled with mine, but it's not terrible by any means. I've got it with a push/pull coil split, so I keep it split most of the time. Sounds like a very hot single coil. I'm talking hot, like *insert sexy celebrity* hot.

Uh, here's a very old sound clip (at least a year old) of me going through the pickups on my Jagmaster. The clip goes > clean neck, clean neck/bridge > clean bridge, dirty neck, dirty neck/bridge, dirty bridge.

just to piss shad off...

i'm liking my Duncan JB. is sounds like an old school PAF with a little more ass to it. so now that i suggested a duncan because he explicitly said "NO DUNCANS", i'll shut up.

good luck finding a good pup dude. keep us informed, yo.
Being in love, I've found, is a lot like working at a factory - eventually, you get replaced by either a foreigner or a machine...
