I ordered a speaker cable from Award Session though, and first impressions are that they're well-made (reassuringly solid Neutrik plugs) and reasonably-priced. UK-based too. I've had two 4m Cleartone cables for the last 5 years and they are still going strong. Dependable and easy to fix if they eve...

Mine seems to have an ebony fretboard though, I'm pretty sure it's not rosewood. I bet you anything it's not ebony, this is a low-end Faded Gibbo. If not just very dark rosewood (which pops up frequently, albeit not often on cheaper Gibsons) it's probably a composite material like richlite. I didn'...

I picked up one of these a few years ago for £250, it's one of my favorites to play. Mine seems to have an ebony fretboard though, I'm pretty sure it's not rosewood.

Liking the gunky pickups though. Adds tone.

Boom, more Squiers!

Seen these around today- I'm usually uninspired by these Cabronita thingys but a Squier version is rather tempting. http://www.keymusic.com/gfx_productcode/XL/141109/Squier-Vintage-Modified-Cabronita-Telecaster-Black.jpg http://www.keymusic.com/gfx_productcode/XL/141110/Squier-Vintage-Modified-Cabro...

I done the opposite a few years ago, I had a Tiny Terror and I sold it to fund a Classic 30. At home I have the C30 set up clean and use pedals for crunch, everything sounds good through it. Tweaking the pre and post gain controls can give a nice crunchy sound from the amp.

I've had the same experience with OLC, kit not working despite putting it together correctly. I built the SLO clone thingy, got it troubleshooted loads and it still didn't work. Got a SECOND kit from OLC, wired it up even more carefully than the first and it still didn't work. Mark from OLC was less...

Mustang pickups are weak sounding. Not for rock or heavy playing.. this is bollocks, unless you specifically mean 69RI pickups. even then, i've seen people use them to good effect. the guy from holy mountain uses a mustang sometimes, and they're plenty heavy. The pictures make them look properly tiny, as if they are 3/4 guitars. The jack placement is odd, you end up with a shit load of cable stretched over the front of your guitar. Cost saving but looks like bum.

Oh that's my old one. A lovely little guitar, I spent quite a bit of money setting it up. Pickups were super weak, but the body is mahogany (i think) and neck is lovely. I think I paid £180 for it 4 years ago, and sold it for about the same. I wish I had it back but had to sell when I moved from Gl...

I seem to have real trouble gelling with Mexican strats, it's like the back of the neck is too flat. Mix that with the 9.5 radius and it takes some getting used to. I really miss my '62 ri that I traded with Hurb. I love me some mexican Fenders, the white strat was very tempting. I have the Hurb st...

I'm a Scottish person living in England, does that qualify me for some noise making? I'll fit some Scottish stereotypes in there somewhere, albeit with a lovely Suffolk backdrop.

Wouldn't it be grand if there were one of these 'super stratocasters' for sale outside eBay and guitar shops...

I like it! I've realised I'm not a massive fan of tremolols, I totally lack the skill to make them sound musical. Will looks banging when it's painted though.

Do still have the bit that broke off? Might be worth trying gluing the shaft back on with some strong superglue. Won't be perfect but would work, as long as you don't get glue around the washer and gunk it up.

looks like gibson es-335 without the hollows :? kind of like a Gibson es-355s The 355 is semi-hollow the same as the 335 and 345. The only deviation in the line was the completely hollow 330 (which is what the Epiphone Casino was). I'm sure theres no solid Es-3XX because it would be a heavier, mudd...
