Yeah, it's the loose tolerance of screw and fit that they allow for the build up of finish. Thats why some screws rattle out. Use some white glue, blue or purple picture, nail polish...just a dab on the threads. Some use Teflon tap, no big deal. Or buy high quality screws.. No more rattling out of s...

YES! I bought one of these new when they came out. Still have it and love it. One of the weak points is the tuners. I deal with them, but i was never happy with them. Had to repair the toggle (took it apart and repair the leaf springs) last october. but i love it stock! over on the gretsch pages, so...

I'm in the "well you can get the stock bridge to work fine if you want, but if you have cash or want to do something because you feel you have to do something because you feel you are accomplishing something, go ahead" camp. Cosmetic changes are one thing -express personality. If you don't...

Ah.. and to think i knew him back in college when Uncle Tupelo was a cover band. We used to do a lot of shows together in central illinois, etc.. changing broken strings on Jay's SG at their first lounge ax gig where Jeff met his wife. Funny.. after he established himself in chicago, he became the l...

Use the plier method ONLY with the arm in the collet. Some have broken the collet by squeezing down too hard.

Another thing in to wrap a cable "ty-wrap" around the collet to snug them up. Leave it on, button it back up.

About Fender and Squier Jag/Jazz bridges

Ok.. so we all know the "debate" about buzzing bridges, Mastery, Mustang, etc.. I was at Chicago Music Exchange this afternoon and I took a good hard look at vintage Jaguars/Jazzmasters, some of the CP and AVRI and a few of the Squiers. The finishing details of the bridge on the vintage an...

I made a video the other night about this that's a good instructional video, good job. but, pardon me, what you are teaching is the obvious. I learned that the day I bought my first Jazzmaster back in 1994. Several years before the Internet. I don't want to believe that this is all people complain ...

I have a red 93 that i bought new. The tuners are surprsingly cheap.. and i mean cheap as in -mid 1970s no name asian imports. I left the guitar stock and it really is a great guitar. I can see where tuners and compensated saddles will really sweeten it up. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer. May...

it seems the newer screws have looser thread tolerance, as well as the bridge saddles. They engage, but are somewhat sloppy compared to older bridges, like those that has a slotted set screw, not the current hex key style. Most likely due to the plating buildup tolerance. Because of that, they can v...

Sure, you can paint them after you decide on a height. The thread tolerance can be sloppy as they account for plating in tge parts and all. The screws for each saddle must still be level though. The glue prevents them from backing out. Making sure they are level prevents them from vibrating on the b...

Squier Jaguar straight out of the box, beautiful. it seems some early guitars had some finish flaws, loose scews etc. Most of us seem to think it was the initial run of guitars. Some of us have perfect guitars...

aside from all that.. great stuff!

Yes. There is nothing wrong with the stock bridges. I made a video the other night about this: and picture: http://s774.beta.photobucket.com/user/so1o_m/media/jagbridgeassy_zps50fc307d.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0#/user/so1o_m/media/jagbridgea...
