Mike, saw your new compressor on Twitter. What's the scoop on that? Is it a clone / original design etc? Have you done an demo yet?

George, are you just intending to use it for recording vocals? I've got an NT-1 (don't think it's an "A") and I have found it great for vocals but less so for trying to record an amp. This could be because a) I don't know what I am doing when trying to record an amp; b) I was trying to rec...

Fantastic looking guitar. Really nice and it's cool that you've sorted out the issues so quickly too.

Re: Sad supermarket-related gear buying news...

b) Grolsch bottle tops no longer have the clay stopper with handy straplock washer attached, and instead now have regular bottle tops. I've been to three off licenses and a big Waitrose, and could find no bottles with the old style Grolsch fastener. On a lighter note, however, I've discovered you c...

No, no it's not. It's a three mode fuzz which fails to satisfy.
The FZ-3 doesn't have any modes. You're thinking of the FZ-2 or FZ-5.

The TC Electronics Nova Delay is usually about £200. There are two versions (one has a modified input buffer or something).

Not tried either so this isn't a recommendation.

I've got one of these: http://uk.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/scarlett-8i6 It's described as having eight inputs but two of these are loop backs from your DAW and two are digital S/PDIF (which maybe you could use for your synth). Two of the four analogue inputs are combo XLR/TRS inputs and the...

I've got the tweed Fender ones from HNB's post on my Jag and Mustang, a black and white Fender one on my Venus and a brown leather Epiphone one on my Dot. My Jag bass and Yamaha are currently strapless.

Always liked the look of those Couch ones so might pick one up at some point.

I've got a shortscale Squier Jaguar bass, which is ace. I wouldn't describe myself as a bassist though. Bought it for home recording.

The jacks and switch positions are really bad, and the pedal looks way worse then the others. This. The position of the jacks and switch are more concerning than the, admittedly bollocks, writing. I doubt I'd be looking at picking one up for $269 anyways.... BUY ONE FROM ME BUY ONE FROM ME Far more...

I like my HM-2 too. Have had it for about 20 years (God, that makes me feel old). I've always found it fairly easy to get some great sounds out of it, although some of the "color mix" settings can sound hideous. My first pedal was a Boss HF-2, which lasted about 3 days before I traded it i...

Yeah, £35 is the threshold so anything below that is fine. I got away with the "parts for repair" labelling c. 2007 on Jag parts but it no longer counts any more, and they are HOT on charges these days. It's less than that isn't it? (from HMRC website ): Goods Value £0.01 to £15 - No c...

N00b Question

I've got a Marshall DRP-1 with "scratchy" knobs. i.e. I get a crackling noise when I turn them and at some positions the sound just cuts out completely.

Does it sound like opening it up and squirting it with something like this might fix it?

Yes, I know this is probably billy basic...

'Twas £529 with a free gig bag. Which, as it comes with a gig bag, meant I got two Fender deluxe gig bags :?

Bear in mind that guitars tend to be more expensive over here compared to the US though. The newer Mexican PS Mustangs are going for about £610 over here.
