Well, sure. I was just thinking, in terms of volume, that there might be a difference between the two pickups. But it's probably negligible.

That looks nice, but you probably won't like the switch in between the knobs...I had that setup with some EMGs at one point (ironically it was on a blonde strat with tort pg) and I know I didn't like it. Also curious, why the big variation in output between the two pickups?

There was a site that was posted on js.com long ago that let you make drawings like that. If there was an archive of them, I never saw it. But I'll try and find what that site that let you create them was called. Edit: I made this weird looking thing-- http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b196/dillonp8...

It looked to be daphne blue. I think it's relatively new though, not old...there's no obvious aging, and notice how the string tree isn't the round kind they put on 50s and 60s necks. Could even be an MIM 60s classic.

What brand of neck is that? And what radius is it? I would LOVE a neck just like that for an upcoming project. From my experience putting block inlays in an already radiused neck is a lot of work.

Yeah I am kind of going for the strat deluxe look...but, it's actually an Ibanez Roadstar II. So I'm reluctant to put Fender humbuckers in it, because the blatant branding conflict would just look stupid. :) I never liked the black pickguard before, but it looks far better than the previous incarnat...

Well, I haven't got the patience up yet to fix that body. But I did this instead, since I haven't done anything guitar related in a while. Yeah I know it's fixable. But it'll be a lot of work that I wasn't looking forward to. Plus filling it will pretty much mean painting it a solid color, or else it'd look like ass in that spot.

Thanks. Although it's actually the same body from three years ago...I decided to refinish it and do it right this time. If there's one thing I regret about this body, it's the placement of the knobs. That is, having the knobs behind the bridge is kind of weird. And of course that big ding in the nec...

Thanks! It looks more white in person. And that picture was with only a few coats of paint on; it's been too cold here to put any more on. But after a few more coats it should be more of a solid finish. As a side note, it's amazing how much the tone of that bass body was affected by taking off some ...

Hey, so I ended up getting some GFS Mean 90s instead of the Phat Cats. Thought I'd post my opinions in here instead of making a new thread. I really didn't like them at first, but now I'm sort of getting used to their quirks. My biggest complaints are that the two pickups aren't matched very well......

SD Phat Cats

Any of yous guys have experience with these? Looking at a pair for my new project. The reviews are generally positive, although most claim that they don't quite have the balls that real P90s do. Thought I'd see what you think of them.

I don't think the matching back plates serve a point. It's still perfectly obvious that they're removable, so what's the point in trying to hide them? I think he could've more tastefully hid the rear routes as well, those are three pretty randomly placed blobs. I don't think it's all that impressiv...

Yeah, it depends on the body color and fretboard wood. Example: almost all guitars with a maple fretboard and matching headstock look weird. Dark colors are the only exception to this (black, charcoal grey, etc.). I voted "no preference" because of this.

ok.. so how about body radii? or something like that...sory if I'm mistaken... i read on a Fender catalogue.. My guess is that they were talking about the radius of the curve around the sides of the body. Example...most fender guitars have a greater radius around the edges than, say, a les paul or ...
