Twin Reverb won't turn off?

Post by holyCATS1415 »

After practice yesterday, my fender twin reverb wouldn't turn off. The standby switch works fine, but the on off switch does nothing. The only thing I can think of is that the switch is somehow shorted? I have never experienced this kind of amp failure. Any thoughts?

Switch could have broken internally so that the contacts don't move with the switch anymore and just stays "on". I've never seen that happen before but it's possible. It could also be a wire issue but that's equally as odd.

After looking at it again, the standby switch seems to have a louder "click" when engaged than the on off does. So hopefully the switch is just broken and its not something complicated. I could do with less amp problems than I normally have to deal with. Thanks Pens!

One of the rare cases where pouring beer on it might actually work.

Currently my plan. I think I have a switch in a parts bin somewhere, I'll try swapping it out tonight. Our CD release show is this Saturday so hopefully that fixes it. If not, I may try pouring beer on it.

Nice! I haven't personally ever seen a switch fail in that way but figured it was possible. Glad you got it sorted!
