My first ever USA guitar – this one's a keeper!

Got it for £700 completely stock and in near-perfect condition, if a bit grimy in places.

I've removed the mute and given it Mojo pickups, a Staytrem bridge and arm, and a Fender Pure Vintage tort guard (replacing the awful stock one).

Also gave it a good clean, oiled the fretboard and strung it up with my usual wound-G 11s.

First picture is stock; the others are after my mods.

2000, if I remember rightly from when I had the neck off a few weeks ago.

lol, I was going to say the stock guard is one of the prettiest I've ever seen, but tastes do vary a lot it seems

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts

Congrats on the new guitar. Great price on an AVRI Jag too!

This may be contentious, but I vastly prefer the original tort. It's just got more depth to it. It's also closer to real vintage stuff. Here's my old '69 Jaguar:

That's a fine deal no question. It's technically possible to score one for that equivalent value secondhand in the US on occasion, but rare... even here exactly what you paid would be impressive (about a 30 quid equivalent more than the MIJ '65 Mustang was).
