Albert Lee HH signature

I always hoped that their short lived cheapo brand OLP would make a version of this shape.

Lisa Loeb has a cool custom pink version of this guitar.

I really love the shape and the 4 and 2 tuners. I don't like the shape of the headtsock at all. Something more angular could have been worked out to match the great lines of the body. I also am not down with Ernie Ball's belief that they somehow own the 4 & 2 headstock configuration, when they didn't invent it but just trademarked it and sicked a bunch of paper gangsters on anybody doing a 4 & 2. Even the body shape of this guitar is not totally original.

Theres a mid level brand out now called Sterling which makes some very nice guitars.

Haha. I didn't like that Gretsch until you said that. It definitely does, and I like it now.

I'm with ya. The MM headstock is a little stubby for my liking, but the 4/2 format works well.

All in all, I dig the Albert Lee HH looks pretty solid, I like the design, all in all... The horns are a little pointier than I like, but I still like it. Nice angles in the body.

But they don't make this shape. Also what they make seems to be around 500-600 bucks and OLP was way cheaper, like Squier prices and they made good guitars too.

I don't like that Gretsch at all but tons of guitars have this general shape with the orientation of the horns. It sort of reminds you of the shape of America and so many guitars have done that.

Given that the parts are pretty standard some minimal wood working skills, right gear and an ebay neck with a better headstock wouldn't be THAT hard to knock up in a week or two. And if you can do the body a pickguard is doable too. I really can't see anything about the guitar that justifies the price but I kinda dig it and Albert Lee is a fine player if you like that sort of thing.

this thread makes me feel bad about the fact that I actually love the shape and look of TK-300's. I am still trying to track down one, especially the darker redish wood one (google image search it!)

With that said, it would never be my main guitar. I just think its funky.
