Fender Thinline 72 RI values

For the uk people really.

I'm looking at a new gear purchase - the first in a couple of years, and want a Tele Thinline. What's the going rate nowerdays?, Ebay seems to suggest Â£400-450 ish?

It'd be a natural finish - it suits them I reckon.

Man alive, I'd be jealous. Love 72 thinlines. Recently, there were a couple bouncing around on musicradar for Â£350ish. Have a look over there.

I've been tracking them on eBay for a few months and the price you say nick is about right. I also contacted a few people on music radar but they were refinished and then stopped answering questions. Shame as I was up for them. Like benecol I'd be jealous, love the 72RI.

Also have you considered the new modern player fender thinline with the P90s? I think you can find those for less than Â£400. I'm hoping to find one to try this weekend and see how they compare to the 72RI

I had a Jap one in Natural about 10 years ago..... still think it was the best guitar I have owned

whered you get the black pickguard. I have a 72 thinline in 3 tone sunburst and itd look a lot cooler with a black pickguard

painted the shit out of it! here is the first burst thinline I had that I painted the guard on. but you can get one from warmoth if you wanted to go that route.

That is a very good price, but a couple of non guitar priorities have come up that mean I'll have to put this purchase off for a couple of months.

Thread resurrect, has anyone had experience with the classic player thinline tele? Trying to see which one might be a winner, played a 72ri and loved it but wondered how different the cp one was.

Also if anyone sees one in the uk 2nd hand let me know, also if there are similar deals to the $500 new one in the states on either CP or RI let me know.

Btw, the music radar one went a long time ago unfortunately.

My turn for a question on this thread.

What kind of paint do you use on the pickguard that'll hold up under heavy picking? I'm trying to update my old-ass Peavey T-15, and a black pickguard sounds like the perfect way to do it.

step one: put tape over the edges, so it doesn't like a bad one ply
step two: put a coat or two of black paint on the pick guard
step three: put four or five coats of clear on pick guard
step four: who cares if it wears, it would look cool.
