Chapman guitars

Post by Medicine Melancholy »

These are a pretty sweet concept - basically you get a good quality body & neck, with "replacable" pickups(Which actually turned out to be pretty decent). It's meant to be a good modding platform.

Considering getting a stock one as a backup guitar at some point.

^ Amazing demo of a custom one here. Must find out what pickups those are, might shove them in whatever Jag I end up getting, see how they work.

The 'bucker is a Kent Armstrong OTT, i dont think they make them anymore.
Good to see a luthier making affordable guitars that appear to be good quality. Materials are'nt cheap in the UK.

Balls. What's the most similar pickup you can get to it?

Chappers is ten million times more annoying than Phil X. I couldn't bring myself to play those guitars because I would think of him and it destroy all enjoyment of what is likely a good instrument.

I'm guessing the name 'OTT' is suggesting they are very high output, so stuff like Duncan Invaders and BCR BDSM's measure around 18k but then you have to consider tone. High output pups nearly always use ceramic magnets though.
Best bet would be to email Kent Armstrong to see if they make something along the same lines.

Yeah, I think the high output makes the more suitable for coil splitting. I think that's the philosophy behind the ones in the Jag HH, but they sound thinner to me somehow.
